Inspired by The Icelandic viking sagas

Drawing inspiration from the Viking Sagas, the name Vínland recalls tales of early Norse explorations of North America, predating Columbus' journey by centuries. These sagas underscore the Vikings' unrivaled skill in navigating uncharted waters, reaching across Western and Southern Europe, venturing to the Arctic North, and settling places like England, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, and Greenland.

One Viking, in particular, left a lasting mark. Leifur Eirikson, an Icelandic explorer, was the first known European to set foot on continental North America. Leading his crew, Leifur established a settlement in a region he named 'Vínland,' possibly located around today's Newfoundland or the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Born to Erik the Red, founder of the first Norse settlement in Greenland, and Thjodhildur, Leifur was born a Viking. Despite his family's origins in Norway, they moved steadily westward due to various reasons. Leifur's expedition to Vínland resulted in a brief yet historic Viking presence in North America, ending not due to climate or food scarcity, but rather because they were chased off by the thousands of natives who inhabited the area.
