WELCOME TO OUR WORKSHOP
Icelandic Watchmaking Since 2005
Behind our storefront on Laugavegur is a small workshop where mechanical watches are designed, assembled, regulated and inspected by hand.
Every JS Watch passes through our workshop before beginning its journey from Reykjavík to its new owner somewhere in the world.
Probably the World’s Smallest Watch Manufacturer
Created in Small Numbers.
Given Personal Attention.
Our limited production allows us to remain closely connected to every watch we make and every customer who chooses one.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WATCHES
A Small Team.
One Shared Passion.
At the heart of our workshop is Master Watchmaker Gilbert O. Guðjónsson, who has devoted more than five decades to the craft of watchmaking.
Working alongside him are his son Sigurður and grandson Gilbert Junior, continuing a watchmaking tradition that now spans three generations.
Grímkell leads the design and creative direction, while the entire team works closely together to care for every watch and every customer.
What Makes a JS Watch
Made by Hand in Reykjavik
Inspired by Iceland
Inspired by Icelandic history, nature and exploration, every collection begins with a story. Designed in Reykjavík and hand assembled in our workshop, our watches are created to accompany the people who wear them on journeys of their own.
Built on Quality
Powered by carefully selected Swiss mechanical movements and high quality European components. Every movement is carefully inspected, regulated and tested in our Reykjavík workshop before leaving for its new owner.
Made Differently in Reykjavík
Every watch is hand assembled, regulated and carefully inspected in our Reykjavík workshop. Built in small numbers and individually adjusted, each watch is prepared with the same care and attention we would expect from a watch of our own.
Designed for a Lifetime
With proper care and regular servicing, a mechanical watch can accompany its owner for decades. We believe a fine mechanical watch should never be disposable, but something to wear, care for and eventually pass on.
An Introduction to Our Collection
Limited Edition
Sólmyrkvi 2026
Created in celebration of the total solar eclipse over Iceland on 12 August 2026. Available in Black, Ruby Red and Blue, with only 50 watches made in each colour.
CLASSIC INSPIRATION
The Gilbert Vintage Collection
Inspired by the vintage military, aviation and field watches admired by our Master Watchmaker.
BUILT FOR ADVENTURE
The Sif Collection
Robust mechanical watches created for demanding conditions, exploration and everyday adventure.
MECHANICAL TIME
A Tiny Machine Made to Accompany You Through Life
A mechanical watch is powered by springs, wheels and precision engineering rather than a battery. Each movement is carefully regulated and tested by our watchmakers. With regular servicing, it can remain a trusted companion for generations.
MADE PERSONAL
A Watch Connected to Your Story
Many JS Watches are chosen to mark important moments such as an anniversary, achievement, birthday, retirement or special journey.
A name, date, message or personal design can be engraved onto the watch, creating a timepiece with a story that belongs only to its owner.

If you're visiting Iceland, we'd be delighted to welcome you to our workshop and share our passion for mechanical watchmaking.
From Design to Wrist
Every JS Watch begins as an idea in our Reykjavík workshop. From the first sketch to the finished watch, each project can take years to develop. We work with some of Europe's most experienced specialists, small family run workshops in Switzerland and Germany that have supplied parts to many of the world's most respected watchmakers for decades.
Each component is produced by craftsmen who have spent generations perfecting their trade. Once everything arrives in Reykjavík, every watch is hand assembled, individually regulated and thoroughly inspected by our own team before it is ready to be worn and enjoyed for years to come.
